"Mozambique safari operator receives conservation award at COP17" — Mongabay · Humanitarian & Biosphere
Zambeze Delta Safaris, a Mozambican operator run by professional hunter Mark Haldane, has won the 2026 for conservation at the UN Biodiversity Conference () in Yerevan, Armenia. The award recognizes the company's role in restoring wildlife populations in the Zambezi Delta through sustainable hunting and community-based conservation.
The claim is reported by Mongabay and corroborated by multiple secondary sources (envirolink.org, Instagram from CIC, ua.news). Mongabay is a credible environmental outlet, but the piece is an aggregated/secondary summary without a direct link to the official COP17 award announcement, so the sourcing is reliable but not primary.
Genuinely new — the award was announced on October 22, 2026, and reporting appeared within the last day as of the search.
