Four members of a family were killed in an arson attack at their home in Waterford, Ireland, and their funeral was held.

What it means

The funeral mass is being held for Philip and Kim English and their two young sons, Callum (12) and Jayden (9), who were killed when their home in Waterford, Ireland, was deliberately set on fire. The bodies have arrived at Sacred Heart Church for the service, with two people having been charged in connection with the attack.

Accuracy & sourcesGrounded

The claim is well‑supported: numerous Irish and UK news outlets (BBC, Irish Independent, ITV, Sky News) are reporting the same factual details about the funeral on 18 October 2026. Although no single primary source (e.g. a formal police or coroner statement) is directly cited in this highlight, the consistency across multiple secondary reports makes the core event highly credible.

How new

Genuinely new – the funeral is taking place on the day the articles are published (17–18 October 2026) and is part of ongoing coverage of the attack that occurred days earlier.

Past coverage

We covered the initial murder investigation on 14 October 2026, when the attack was first reported and four deaths were confirmed.
