A judge dismissed child sex abuse charges against actor Timothy Busfield.

What it means

A New Mexico judge dismissed child sex abuse charges against actor Timothy Busfield, known for roles in 'The West Wing' and 'Field of Dreams'. The charges, which involved allegations of criminal sexual contact with a child actor on the set of the TV series 'The Cleaning Lady', were thrown out because the judge found that prosecutors had acted improperly during grand jury proceedings, failing to be fair and impartial.

Accuracy & sourcesGrounded

The claim is well-supported by multiple reputable news outlets (CBS News, BBC, The Guardian, AP, etc.) that directly cite the judge's ruling and court documents. The reporting is close to the primary source—the judge's order—and there is no contradiction across sources. The dismissal was explicitly based on prosecutorial misconduct in the grand jury process.
